Dana Whitco is an engineer of context and an advocate for artists. When not mothering a young human, she serves as the director of the Tisch Initiative for Creative Research (NYU/Tisch School of the Arts) which catalyzes, nurtures and promotes the research praxis of Tisch faculty, students, staff and alumni. Dana works with diverse Tisch stakeholders to formulate new opportunities for research, to deeply integrate artists into the intellectual life of the University, and to strengthen Tisch’s capacity as an incubator for innovation and collaboration. She values process, meaning-making and community-building, and is a long-board, warm-water surfer.
